I stumbled upon this by mere chance today and I'm honestly not sure how to even describe this amazing experience.
This game poem manages to put into words so many things that deeply resonated. I played it once, alone, then a second time with my partner, reading the text aloud. It is elegant and brutally honest, it is beautiful, it is awful, it is great, it is sad, it is cathartic, it speaks from the broken heart.
Then the game ended, I kept reading your article about the abuse, my tears were still.
To be able to express with the videogame media the struggles, the pain, the symbolism, the hope... I will not hide, I am ENVIOUS of your work (I hope it doesnt show as too aggressive :c).
I am very recent and still studying on the field of game development (specifically on the design facet), and I always and will always believe that the videogame genre is as valid as an art branch as can be theater, cinema, sculpting... To see examples of people who already reached and created pieces like this, its as inspiring as it is overwhelming. Part of that fear is what it drives me to improve myself and to, someday, make someone also cry with my game as you did with me.
I've been searching and navigating around your sites for like 2-3 hours, mainly your portfolio, your archive of photos of your ideas in your notebooks, your blogs about obscure tools to use in experimental game design (which will come handy c:<)... You really know how to make interactive experiences feel unique even out of the executables!
I dont want to make this comment longer than it needs cause i tend to yap too much but, just know that you are an inspiration and a true artist that i aim to be myself. So keep your head high and believe that, no matter what leeches try to diminish your person or try to dehumanize you, you are an icon that shines brighter than they'll ever be able to opaque (at least for me).
I hope i dont sound too corny or weird, but you genuinely moved me, stay strong Nathalie.
Everything about it, from the undertone narrations about how it all ended, to the whole plot about the last poet and her background is simply haunting, disturbing, yet beautiful. I simply lost the sense of time while playing this by how fascinated i was with the atmosphere and how the poems connected together (even when i read something out of the numerical order, it still was incredibly put together for the better understanding of it all as a whole thing), culminating into that iconic tower ending. This is the first game i played by you, and now i'm already wanting to check more! This is truly moving, and to me it's a 10/10, i don't even need to think twice. Thank you for creating such a great experience and work of art!
It's been many winter moon since I beheld such an artistic experience... Despite my impatience and frustrations, it was certainly a delight to take part of.
progress is automatically saved. when you collect something, it saves that, and you can "return back" to where you collected it too. no need to push through it all in one sitting.
this game is gorgeous-- oh how i love it dearly. the last flower flourishes in elegance and comes in beauty, and i pray it'll never be forgotten. with you, the world shall never die.

I don't have the words, but the game poem does.

I cried.
